Ishaq Dar Holds Talks With Saudi, Egyptian and Turkish Counterparts on Regional Security Syndicate Journal Pakistan
ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held separate telephone conversations with his counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Türkiye, discussing regional security, bilateral relations and cooperation under the evolving Makkah defence framework.
The discussions come as Pakistan continues diplomatic engagement with key regional partners on security cooperation and broader international developments.
In his conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Dar exchanged views on regional and global developments as well as issues of mutual interest at multilateral forums.
The two leaders also discussed progress following the inaugural meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee linked to the Makkah Defence Alliance, which was held in Istanbul. Both sides agreed to remain in close contact as discussions on regional cooperation continue.
Pakistan and Egypt Discuss Bilateral Cooperation
Dar also spoke with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, with the conversation focusing on Pakistan-Egypt relations and developments affecting the wider region.
According to the reported discussions, the Egyptian foreign minister invited Dar to undertake a bilateral visit to Egypt. The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening diplomatic engagement and maintaining coordination on regional security issues.
Both foreign ministers also agreed to meet on the sidelines of the upcoming United Nations General Assembly session.
Cooperation With Türkiye Under Makkah Framework
In a separate conversation with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Dar expressed appreciation for Türkiye’s role in hosting the inaugural meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee in Istanbul.
The two foreign ministers reviewed the understandings reached during the meeting and discussed ways to advance cooperation under the Makkah defence framework.
They also exchanged views on regional and international developments and explored opportunities for closer coordination at multilateral platforms.
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye have recently taken steps to strengthen cooperation under their joint defence arrangements, including plans for greater institutional coordination.
Growing Regional Diplomatic Coordination
The latest round of conversations highlights Pakistan’s increasing diplomatic engagement with major regional partners at a time of evolving security and geopolitical challenges.
With discussions ranging from bilateral relations to multilateral cooperation and regional security, Islamabad appears to be placing greater emphasis on coordinated diplomatic engagement with Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Türkiye.
The Makkah defence framework, meanwhile, is emerging as an important platform for security dialogue and strategic coordination among participating countries.
